Court-Referred Parenting Classes

The experience of raising a child or a teenager can be difficult. The statistics on teenage drug use, pregnancy, and suicide are enough to cause any parent great concern. However, parents can take preventative action and strengthen the family unit by positively influencing their children’s growth and development. This means getting the necessary training and support.

Olive Branch Counseling Center parenting classes provide the opportunity for adults to evaluate their role as parents and modify them in order to improve the parent/child relationship. The parenting classes consist of eight 2-hour sessions. Once a parent completes the seven-week module they are eligible for an Active Parenting certificate.

In the parenting classes, participants learn how to bridge the parent/child communication gap. Active Parenting Now, a video-based parent education program, helps parents get in touch with their children who are ages 2-12 and teens. The course teaches parents skills to develop both their and their children’s level of cooperation, self-esteem, and responsibility.

Olive Branch Counseling continues their parent education by providing Active Parenting of Teens, also a video-based program. The teen program covers the same information as for the 2-12 year olds in addition to helping parents effectively deal with their teens on serious issues such as drugs, alcohol, and sex.
